Background/Objectives: Multi Port Converters (MPCs) have gained importance in renewable power generation recently. MPCs can interface and control many power terminals and are generally economical with high power density, efficiency, and compact structure. Bidirectional MPC is proposed in this paper to facilitate power flow between load and source in a two way channel. Methods/Statistical Analysis: The proposed model is simulated using MATLAB software. The results confirm that the overall efficiency of the system is increased and the power flow is bidirectional with reduced losses. Findings: In the present existing topology, Bidirectional flow of energy is a challenging study in case of MPCs. Power losses will be high due to the use of Diode Bridge. The main motive of this paper lies in proposing a systematic method for deriving MPC topologies from non-isolated BDCs and FBCs. The derived MPCs use four port converters with both buck and boost topologies. Due to the usage of full bridge converter, bidirectional power flow is achieved unlike the traditional method. Application/Improvements: The proposed system is capable of being used for the applications of renewable power system, namely, PV-supplied aerospace power systems, fuel cell, battery systems, hybrid energy storage systems, and thermoelectric systems with energy backup. It has reduced power loss and facilitates two way power flow. Keywords

Background/Objectives: Three phase induction motors have been the workforce for several industrial, manufacturing, propulsion and transportation applications for the past several years. Energy efficient operation of induction motors is the important task in industries. The objective of the present paper is to provide energy efficient operation of induction motors using soft computing techniques. Methods/Statistical analysis: A fuzzy logic and firefly algorithm based hybrid technique is used for performance improvement of a.c.voltage controller fed three phase induction motor drives. Simulation is done by using matlab software. Findings: It is shown that the conventional search method for reaching the best efficiency point has got many drawbacks. These demerits are overcomed using the proposed softcomputing techniques. Application/ Improvements: Improvement in motor efficiency and power factor is achieved and the motor always operates in the energy efficient region. Keywords

Objectives: The main objective of this work is to provide a cost effective way to allow path planning for blind people. Methods: The Blind Audio guidance system hopes to allow the visually impaired users to simply press a button, speak the desired destination to the Blind customer care, and be guided there with the use of audio instructions. The system provides a portable unit that can be easily carried out and operated by a visually impaired user.. To implement a wrong path identification alert system for Blind and to provide blind to communicate with the customer care in a finger Tip. In this work ultrasonic and RFID are combined to navigate the blind. Findings: The tool provides information about the direct surroundings of the blind to allow him to move around without collisions. The Obstacles around the blind person up to a certain distance can be understand by a system using a sensors.

Optimal Power Flow (OPF) is the important for operation and planning of the power system. The OPF results are used in operation to improve the quality and generation cost of the power system. In planning the results of OPF is used to forecast future electric load expansion based on past and current operating details. The generation cost in OPF may reduce by adjusting the control variables generated real power; voltage magnitude and transformer tap position. Flexible AC Transmission System (FACTS) devices are further helpful for reducing generating cost as well as to improve the quality of the power supply. This paper investigates the helpfulness of three types of FACTS devices namely, STATCOM, SSSC and UPFC. To find optimal values of these control variables including FACTS devices hybrid intelligent algorithm Real Coded Genetic Algorithm-Differential Evolution (RGA-DE) is used for solving OPF problem. RGA has good selection and crossover operator but lays less emphasis on mutation operator whereas DE has good mutation process. To validate the work with other published work, IEEE 30 bus system is to be considered for the simulation. Keywords

Attendance management is very important in schools, colleges and offices. Manual method of taking attendance consumes time, may have some errors and it can be easily manipulated. Hence the need for automatic attendance management is increasing [3]. Out of all the available methods face recognition method is efficient [1]. Automatic attendance management using face recognition does not require human interference [2]. Hidden Markov Method of face recognition is most efficient as it was not sensitive to lightning conditions [9].
